I read Lindsay’s excellent books – Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter – a while ago, and when I heard that the books were being made into a series, I was extremely excited. So much so, in fact, that I was afraid of being disappointed, simply because my expectations were so high. Fortunately, "Dexter" absolutely delivers. The show maintains the novels’ uncomfortable atmosphere with better fidelity than one would ever expect, and Dexter (played by Hall) is there, too. The show’s visuals are impressive, to say the least. Disturbing, sure, but even more impressive. It’s impossible to watch the show without finding common ground with Dexter. He’s a monster, and yet it’s entirely possible to identify with him. 10 out of 10. This has a permanent place on my DVR.
